The book

The Ta Ke Ti Na Rhythm Book shows you that you are a profoundly rhythmic individual — even though you may not be willing believe that right now! The book guides you through the musical worlds of cultures unfamiliar to most of us. It provides practical examples as it accompanies you on a journey of discovery through the boundless world of rhythm. The book contains numerous exercises and tools for developing your musical abilities. You are invited to experiment, to meditate, and be creative.

The CD

The Ta Ke Ti Na Rhythm Explorer CD which supplements the book contains many Ta Ke Ti Na exercises that allow you to experience and internalize the boundless world of rhythm. Make rhythm a part of your daily meditation practice with The Ta Ke Ti Na Rhythm Explorer. The computer program, designed by Reinhard Flatischler and developed by the Austrian musician »Klaus Kobald, is so easy to use that even a child can enjoy it. At the same time, it is comprehensive and sophisticated enough for the professional musician to use as a tool for composing and arranging.

The present

During the last two millennia, the modern industrialized western world has forgotten or even abandoned drums and rhythm on a conscious level. But today we are at the dawn of the "rediscovery” of rhythm and of its deeper meaning in our lives. Medicine and therapy, science, music — involvement comes from many fields. Medical practitioners employ rhythm in the treatment of pain and as therapy for autistic children; scientists see rhythm as a carrier of information. In the realm of music, we can witness a shift from the dominance of melody and harmony to an emphasis on the drive and sophistication that rhythm can contribute.
Today we have reached an "historic” moment: we are now able to access the music of almost every culture and to survey the complete "opus of rhythm” created by humankind. What is revealed is that the diversity of musical expression has its roots in elementary, universal archetypal rhythmic forms. These forms are the fundamental building blocks of the Ta Ke Ti Na process.

The path

For our ancestors, rhythm was indispensable. Pulling fishing boats on land, pounding grain, weaving — all of these tasks could be accomplished more easily if the movements of the participants were coordinated in a natural rhythmic flow. In these cultures, a rhythmic process was integrated into daily life from early on. A process that everyone was part of, a process that bound the community together and encouraged personal as well as collective evolution. This process simulates the senses, strengthens primal power, and provides us with moments of deep inner silence. At these times, not even desire stands between us and the moment. Our core beings begin to surface and the chatter of our constantly shifting thoughts fades into that deep silence, inviting a state of profound fulfillment — a state that reminds us of being in love.
Whether you are an experienced musician or a beginner, a man or a woman, Muslim or Christian — this process creates a path on which you encounter questions such as: "Who am I?” or "Why am I here?” These questions transcend the ego and connect you with a "bigger picture.” They expose you to a deeper sense of the concept of "knowledge.” Without these questions, knowledge remains a meaningless collection of information.

The Ta Ke Ti Na process

So then, how can we feel more connected to rhythm in our modern world? On one hand, we are constantly surrounded by rhythm , an irresistible primal force in our life. Yet, the mind set with which we grew up — the one that downplays forces that are not easily accessible and comprehensible by our rational minds — tempts us to ignore rhythm and deny its effect on our lives.
Ta Ke Ti Na gives us the opportunity to experience rhythm directly. Through the Ta Ke Ti Na process, our curiosity is piqued and life becomes an exciting learning experience. We connect with our "inner teacher,” a personal guide which can lead us into self-responsibility, into freedom, and towards deeper meaning in our lives.
The Ta Ke Ti Na Rhythm Book is the key to this new way of learning. Claim this key and unlock rhythm, music, movement, and life!
